Internet Basics

This course will benefit individuals who have an interest in effectively locating information and areas of interest on the Web. Discover new search engines and meta-search engines that make exploring the Internet faster and easier. Learn about the evolution of the Internet as well as popular Web terminology, such as home page, bookmark, ISP, HTTP and URL. Learn how to surf the Web with ease and sophistication using wild cards, keywords, and queries.
REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED.

Participants should be able to function in the Windows operating system. Ability to use a mouse is a must.

Topics include:
• Learning vocabulary used on the Web
• Understanding URLs
• Learning Web browsers and supporting software
• Understanding search engines
• Navigating the Yale Intranet and the World Wide Web
• Learning search techniques for the Web

Computers Made Easy
or have basic computer experience in a Windows environment
